Today some of the materials arrived for the house. The rebar is of very good quality, better that we usually buy in the US.
The neighbor attends one of the local Baptist churches and has allowed us to store the metal in his house to prevent theft.
The guys continued to chip the old stucco off of the walls and also built a temporary enclosure on the porch to store the materials safely. One of the guys sleeps there to protect our materials.
As you can see from the picture, they built a ladder, which is normal here. A homemade ladder is not nearly as likely to get stolen as a store-bought one.
Tim will be going back to the US for a few days on Friday and the guys will continue to build. They will be laying the footers for the inside walls and will start putting up those walls.
They have enclosed the porch area in order to make a safe place to store the materials while the construction is going on. Theft is common in this town.
