January 31, 2008 - Tim made a trip back to the US to load a container and take our household goods to Nicaragua.
We were not able to do the container previously because we were not sure we would get customs exoneration. Also, events prior to our departure made it difficult to get it done at that time.
Tim flew out of Managua at 2 am Friday (we didn't even think that the airport was open at that time) and arrived in Dallas at 11 am later that morning. With almost no sleep, he drove to Lubbock to help move Jason back so that he could go into the army.
Saturday was spent driving back from Lubbock. Sunday was spent in church and moving Jason's stuff into our mini-warehouse.
Monday was spent loading crates on to the truck. Tuesday was spent putting boxes on the truck and running errands.
Wednesday at 6 am, Tim left Greenville and made it to Pensacola, Florida. The Penske truck ran very well and was easy to drive. Tim bought a cheap GPS unit and it was worth every penny.
Thursday at 6 am, Tim left Pensacola and made it to Fort Pierce Florida by about 6 pm. That gave time to relax and repack the suitcases for the trip to Managua.
Friday at 6 am, Tim left Fort Pierce and arrived in Miami at 9 am at the transfer warehouse for Bernuth Lines. The people there were very helpful and we had the container packed by about 1 pm. Tim returned the truck, ate lunch at a Cuban fast-food restaurant and returned to hotel to do laundry.
Saturday morning, the flight out of Miami was delayed because American did not have a plane in Miami. We finally left at 2:20 pm and arrived in Managua around 5:00 pm. One of Tim's suitcases containing a piece of equipment was lost. Around 10 pm we went back and got the suitcase, as it came in on the next flight.
Sunday morning, Tim got a flight out of Managua and arrived in Bluefields at 8:00 am. It was good to be back. |
