We held another of our Saturday night meetings with the youth and young adults. We started out meeting in our living room, but ended up moving it to the church because we had 40 people who showed up, several from other churches.
The really great thing is that these kids want to reach their friends for Christ. They see so many of their friends caught up in drug addiction, alcohol, sex and crime and they want to reach them, but need support from us.
We showed a podcast by Erwin McManus entitled "Party Theology" and the kids really got the message and were on board with it. This message is about being willing to do whatever it takes to reach those who do not know Christ. It was about making relationships more important than religious rules, about extending the invitation to everyone, regardless of whether or not we think they will respond.
At the end, we recruited the leaders among the group to work with us to tailor the Saturday night event so that we can reach their friends. We made it clear that this is their night, and we are just here to provide coaching and support.
We believe that God is bringing the pieces together to create a youth movement here in Bluefields and throughout the region. Our role will be to support that movement. A large part of that movement will be to create a discipleship network so that each of these young adults can be a part of a small group and grow in their faith.
We strongly recommend that you go to www.mosaic.com and download their video podcasts. Mosaic is a Baptist church that is effectively reaching people for Christ in Los Angeles.
