After looking at the house today, Kim commented that it was starting to look like a house. The pictures definitely show how it is taking shape. The crew has gotten the walls halfway up and they tell us that the walls will be up to the top of the first floor by the end of the next week.
We are watching the price of rebar go up constantly. The locals commented to me that during years gone past, the Sandinistas used to devalue the money every Monday morning, now they just raise the prices every Monday, which has the same effect.
We are going to make a large purchase of rebar this next week (about 4 tons) which will be enough to finish the house, including the fence and the bars on the windows.
This house will be very strong when we are all done. The foreman has done a great job of working with us on the design and making sure that everything is well done and very strong.
This picture at the right is our foreman, Javier, and his son.
