Things are moving right along with the building. It is never as fast as you would like, but the guys are working really hard on it and we are pleased with their work.
Here you can see the entrance to the dining area. This is all done in concrete and the guys are really doing quality work.
We lost power one day, and the generator came in really handy. The guys just roll it up the street from the mission house (where we are staying) to the new building. It is capable of producing 8000 watts which is more than enough for any power equipment we are running.
We met with the discipleship group leaders this week. As you may recall, we decided to break the group up into several smaller groups so that people would be in more of a discipleship environment.
The leaders are getting their groups going this week. We have devotional materials for them to work on each day, then a worksheet to guide their discussion when they come together.
Tim spent quite a bit of time working on the house this week, since he spent so much time studying last week. His major project was building a casting mould so that we can cast concrete rings for the well. It costs about $25.00 per ring to buy the rings and the quality is spotty, so we are building our own form so that we can know what is going into them.
The guys are producing really good quality concrete. Tim has had to work with them on the process. At first, the concrete was really soupy which produces perhaps a 1500 psi concrete. We got them to use much less water and use a vibrator to settle the concrete and we are now producing 3000 - 4000 psi concrete.
We also started work this week on the fence. We are installing a 10 ft fence with razor wire on top to prevent thieves from getting in. There are so many of them and we have to be very careful or things will disappear and we cannot afford to replace everything.
You can see the block in front. There will be four rows of concrete block, and then five feet of steel bars, then a foot of razor wire on top. It sounds pretty high security, but we are really just on our guard against thieves. The biggest issue is petty theft and not so much violent crime.
We thank you as always for your prayers and your financial support. We will be happy to get the building done so we can focus on training and supporting leaders in ministry.
