We need your help in purchasing ministry equipment and supplies for the upcoming year. Some items are quite small and others are large. Please look at the list and consider how you can help - TJM
This week we finished forming up the second floor and the guys are pouring this morning (Saturday). The process will take all day and takes about 18 guys. The concrete is mixed in a 2 bag mixer and then shoveled into buckets and carried by hand to the second floor.
The concrete is dumped into the form and one guy uses the vibrator to settle it in and another trowels and checks the level. The floor will be 5 inches and the beams are a total of 11 inches.
We were only going to go four inches on the floor, but the beams ended up a little higher than expected and we needed to make sure we had at least one inch of concrete above the beams. Plus, since we are using a concrete vibrator, the cement is compacting more and all this means that it will take about 25% more concrete than we had expected to use.
We had a really good Bible study with our discipleship leaders on Wednesday evening. Our discussion lasted about an hour and a h alf. We are teaching through the book of Acts and discussing the concept of the Church.
Here in Bluefields, the churches are very traditional and are not impacting their world much at all. The people feel like things are dead and they are probably right. We are encouraging them to read the book of Acts with an open mind and re-evaluate their thinking about what the church really is (hint: it is people, not a building).
We will leave tomorrow afternoon for Managua and will leave at 6
AM for Dallas. We will be in Dallas for a couple of days, then fly up to NY for Tim's parent's 50th wedding anniversary, then fly back a week later and stay in Dallas for another week.
We need to get a lot of materials for the house and load up a container in Miami to ship back to Nicaragua. We hope to see you while we are in the US.
