We are here in the US working hard at getting all the materials together to bring back to Nicaragua so we can complete the building phase of our work.
By far the highlight of our week was attending Tim's parents 50th wedding anniversary celebration.
There were well over a hundred people at the party including the man who performed the wedding and the best man from the wedding.
Their life together is a testimony to the faithfulness of God over the years and it really has been an inspiration to us all. At 75 and 70 years of age, they are still quite active in ministry work. Time sure goes by fast.
The guys are hard at work on the building. They have to leave the forms on the second floor for 28 days until the concrete fully cures.
They have been making cement blocks and then building up the walls on the second floor. We had a problem with the blocks we were buying locally so we rounded up a couple of molds and the guys are making them with higher percentages of cement in the mix.
They have also been working on our garden, tilling it up and getting all our vegetables planted in neat rows. It will be trial and error finding out what grows well in this climate and soil.
Rainy season should start soon and there will be more water in this garden that we would ever need, so we have raised the beds and augmented the soil with sand to promote drainage.
One item on Tim's shopping list was getting another dog tocomplete our security contingent at the house.
A local man had seven lab mix puppies free to a good home and we picked out a little girl puppy. We named her Mattie. There are more pictures in this week's picture gallery.
Jason passed his PT test, running two miles in 15:30. This will allow him to complete the rest of the requirements to phase up. When he phases up, he will be able to get passes to leave the base. |
