Update - Container Arrives - 07.19.08

It has been another great week. On Monday, we received all of the materials from the container. We took a large boat over from Bluefields to El Bluff, where the customs station is located. The weather held off long enough for us to get the boat loaded and just as we were about to leave, it started to pour. The rain stopped just as we were approaching Bluefields and we were able to get unloaded. We had some light rain during the unloading process, but it did not create a problem.

We have materials scattered around our new house, the mission house (where we are staying) and the church. It will be good to get the new place done so we can consolidate everything in one place.

We were really glad to get the new Bibles. I told Pete (the guy on the corner whose store we helped repair) that we had brought back a bunch of Bibles. He told me he really wanted a King James Bible.

One of the men from the churches had given me a large print KJV Bible, so we gave it to him along with a copy of the book of Proverbs in the Message translation. Every time we go by there, we see him reading his Bible now and he says he has some questions. Unfortunately, I have been sick the last few days and have not been able to talk to him, but he is definitely interested.

Our workers have been asking me to do a Bible talk during our break time at 10:00 am each day. None of them go to church regularly. We gave them New Testaments and have held very wide ranging discussions about what the Bible says about salvation, money, marriage, family and church.

They will sit and talk about these things for an hour (and longer if we let them), and they ask very perceptive questions. After we end the discussion and they go back to work, they keep talking about these things among themselves. They have also asked if we can do a Bible study on the weekends apart from work so they can bring their families to hear about what the Bible says. It is pretty amazing.

Kim and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this Wednesday and we went out to eat early because we had to get back for our discipleship group in the evening, which went very well. We have both had a stomach bug. Kim had hers before our anniversary and I came down with mine right after the anniversary and I am still suffering from it.
