The rainy season continues here in Bluefields, but it has not slowed down the construction on the house. Things continue to move ahead steadily.
We are continuing to hold Bible studies with the guys every morning during the 10 am break time. The discussion usually lasts 30-60 minutes and the guys are asking a lot of good questions.
On Thursday, we read the passage where Jesus said not to worry about what you are going to eat or wear, because God will provide. One of them asked if I had ever experienced hunger. I had to admit that I had not.
They related experiences of how they had days where they did not know how they were going to feed themselves or their family.
It is one thing to go hungry, but when you have kids crying because they are hungry, that is quite another thing.
The ethanol push in the US is partly responsible for this because it has taken literally millions of tons of food off of the world market. This combined with other problems have resulted in doubled food prices in the last six months.
The guys spent this week pouring the floors in the first floor and doing stucco work on the first floor so it will be ready to paint soon. Tim spent most of his time working on the electrical stuff.
We hope to have our mahogany on Monday so we can begin working on the kitchen cabinets. We brought all the woodworking equipment from the US and should be able to build the cabinets in short order.
We are sharing the Bibles with people. Kim took several gospels of John to the jail to share with some of the inmates there. She goes there every Friday to meet with our housekeeper's son who is there awaiting sentencing. Tim took some when he went to pray with a man whose mother (Lucille) is suffering from a long term illness.
We are beginning the process of selecting ministry training candidates. Please pray that we will have wisdom and that we will be able to find the right ones.
