We were able to get the front part of the second floor poured last Saturday, so our major focus for the next few weeks is getting the second floor enclosed so we can move all the stuff up there and then finish out the first floor.
There is so much stuff on the first floor that we could not lay tile there if we wanted to. We have all of our building materials, and tools and such on the first floor at present.
This week, the guys finished the stairs going to the second floor, and transported another tencubic meters of sand from the wharf to the house, and started work finishing the walls on the second floor.
Chico spent the week welding on the metal gates that go on each of the outside doors.
The goal is to have the second floor walls finished by the end of next week, so we can start framing the roof the following week.
We have about 1000 feet of framing lumber for the roof already on site and have another 2000 feet coming in the next two weeks. We are trying to have the roof on by the end of the month.
Kim spent her time painting on the fence. She has to use primer on it, then put on the blue paint.
Tim is spending his time working on cabinets. It is a challenge working with the wood here, but the wood is quite reasonable in price.
Jason did a little welding, but spent most of his time working with the guys on concrete and laying blocks. The dogs spent the afternoon with us at the house and had a thoroughly good time (except when Mattie wnt running through fresh cinder blocks). More dog pics in the gallery.

Some of the guys from one of the churches are helping us with painting and other simple tasks so they can raise money for a youth trip to Managua.
Our discipleship group went well. We are on week 20 of our discipleship program and our leaders are continuing to do well. We get so involved in the study that we forget to take pictures.
The Bible study at the house each day is also going well. Today we talked about Romans 12:1-2 about not being conformed to the world.
This is something that they take seriously and their questions show it.
They have shared some of the struggles that they experience in trying to do what is right. They are learning that obedience is often a matter of faith. We do what is right and trust God for the results, even when things sometimes seem to get worse rather than better.
Thank you again for your prayers. We are putting everything we have into getting this building finished. We are ready to focus full time on the work of building up Jesus-followers.
In the name of Jesus,
Tim and Kim |
