Update - Herding Cats - 11.08.08

Praise God things are moving very rapidly. We have about 25 workmen working on all phases of the project and it is totally crazy in a good way.

This week's progress includes the following:

  • Finishing the majority of the stucco work on the house
  • Pouring a sidewalk in the entry way
  • Laying all the tile on the second floor
  • Priming all the walls on the second floor
  • Doing much of the electrical work on the second floor
  • Finishing the soffit and fascia on the roof
  • Working on the front veranda

By the end of next week we should have the following done:

  • Second floor complete including ceiling, electrical, paint, tile.
  • First floor tile complete
  • Front veranda and back porch complete
  • Window bars and windows installed all around
  • Ceiling finished on the first floor

We have been doing most of the work on a contract basis and giving the guys target dates, so most of our time is spent just watching over the work very closely.

By the end of next week, all of the major portions of the job will be complete and we will have two weeks to finish out all the little details (like the kitchen).

We want to be complete by December 1st, so we can decorate the house up nice for the holiday season. We know that the neighbors will really enjoy it.

The folks here tell me that last year there was a Christmas tree in the park and it had so few lights on it that you could actually count them. We are going to put up all of our lights on the front balcony and around the second floor. We can't really put them in the yard or they would get stolen.

We are expecting a large group for our upcoming classes. Tim took a ride in a taxi (rare, because he normally walks) and the driver asked what we were building. Tim explained it to him and he said that he wants to come because he has taken Bible classes in the past and really wants to learn more.

It appears that we are going to have a lot of people from a wide variety of churches involved in our classes, and that is realy good because it means we are serving the entire body of Christ and not just one segment of it.

Thank you as always for your prayers and support and please keep on praying for us. The next two weeks will be critical to the completion of the job.

Please take a look at the picture gallery to get a better picture of what is happening. There is a priceless picture of Kim and our youngest dog.

God Bless You,

Tim and Kim
