I am shocked just writing the date. Are we already through the first month of this new year? Yep, guess so. Wow!! We traded the cold weather for cold showers. It is good to be back home here.
We had a good visit to the US. It was great to see our oldest son and all of our friends in Texas. The two weeks went by so quickly. Here are some of the highlights:
1/18/09 - Tim gave a short slide presentation to their Adult Bible Fellowship at LakePointe Church in Rockwall, TX. The people were really glad to see us and have always been very interested and supportive of our work.
1/19/09 - Tim spoke at Mt. Zion Church in Cumby, TX. This is a great church that has been very supportive of our work and has always welcomed us with open hearts. We stayed with some of their members throughout our visit and enjoyed great fellowship.
1/22/09 - We met with the missions pastor at Lakepointe church and were encouraged by them and received a donation of study Bibles and other study materials.
1/24/09 - We got to visit again with Alan and Carolyn, otherwise known as "the twin's parents". We have really enjoyed watching these little girls grow up.
Later we went to the Adult Bible Fellowship class and were able to eat dinner afterwards with John Mock (our brother in law) and his son Jared.
1/25/09 - Tim spoke again at Mt. Zion Church in the morning and then in the evening, he did an hour-long presentation of our work over the last year. We met another pastor there who indicated an interest in having us share at his church.
We spent quite a bit of time shopping for little stuff for the house that we cannot get in Bluefields (mini-blinds, dimmer switches, tool parts, etc).
We bought a new table saw for Tim. The old one had been used and abused and was not repairable. We were not going to get it because it was $600, but "coincidentally" a couple of days before we were to leave, Lowe's cleared theirs out at $419, a price that we will not see again ever.
This will help us finish the cabinets as well as numerous other ministry projects. Wewould like make kits for kites, pinewood derby cars, pic frames, etc that kids can come in and work on in our front yard.
While we were away, Alfred, got Tim's study painted and ready to use. It looks so much nicer. The color of the paint turned out really bright and nice.
This was by accident because I asked Alfred to use some yellow paint that was leftover (because I am cheap), and instead he used paint we had bought from the house (which was supposed to be cream color, but it looks more like mustard or margarine than cream). Anyhow, it turned out pretty nice, don't you think?
We flew from Dallas to Miami on 1/27. In Miami, we picked up a large box from the UPS terminal and carried it over to the shiplines where it will be soon bound for Nicaragua. We had the chance to visit with the personnel at the ship line and make arrangements so we can just ship items to them to be shipped to Nicaragua for us. We then flew back to Managua on 1/28 and on to Bluefields the next morning. Our dogs nearly mauled us when we got back, they were so happy.
The evening we got back, we met with Pastor Rigby from the Zion Baptist church. Our goal is to work together with the Baptist pastors here to build a very strong churches and very strong Christians in those churches, not just once on Sunday Christians.
Today (01/31/09) we hosted Rosemary from Atlanta and Pastor Eli's wife Alva from Corn Island for lunch.
Rosemary was in town to visit the the ladies in the churches. She comes from the US several times each hear to work with the ladies in many of the se churches. Her church want to help build an drug rehab facility in the Haulover area (north of here) as well as a children's ministry in Pearl Lagoon.
We want to encourage the churches to become involved in this. As we reach into those areas to build up the churches, we will encourage them to support these projects.
Thank you as always for your prayers.
God bless you,
Tim and Kim |
