We have added a new feature to our web page called Twitter. This allows us to put quick momentary news flashes up on the site without wasting a lot of time.
We like to keep you informed. Many of our friends have told us "We feel like we are right there with you" and that is what we want. We make it a point to do the updates with pictures and a story every single week so you can stay connected with the work of missions.
This takes just a moment to load. If it does not load, then you may need to download Flash Player.
So why Twitter?
Instead of feeding you news that is always a week old, we are able to put little bits of information on the front page of the website on a daily basis, without wasting much time.
We have this little "Spaz" window on our computer (see below) . We type a sentence into it, click "send" and voila, it is added to the front page of the site.
it is easy to do and takes less than 10 seconds for us to send these little messages.
What should I do with this?
Well, we don't expect you to sit by your computer and keep hitting refresh, waiting for our very next "tweet".
If we are up in the communities or out on Corn Island, we may not be able to update it for days.
But, when you do look at the site, you can scroll down through the entries and get a little flavor for what has gone on during the day.
Or then again, if that is too much information, you can just ignore it and read the stories and look at the pictures.
Can I send messages back to you?
This is the Spaz app that we use to enter our "tweets" (messages).
If you have a Twitter account (easy to set up), you can put us on your follow list and you will be updated with our "tweets" (messages). We don't expect people to do this unless they are already using Twitter. For most people, "old fashioned" email works just fine (never thought you would hear anyone call email old fashioned, did you?)
If you use Twitter and don't want to have to keep going to our web page or to the Twitter web page to look at our "tweets", you can download an application like "Spaz" that will stay on your computer screen and update automatically.
What's next?
We are hoping to have Fiber Optic internet installed soon, and when we do, we may just put a webcam up so you get real time pics of the Bluefields Bay.
Of course, none of this is like visiting us in person. You are always welcome to come and spend a week or two working alongside of us.
